“La Pop Culture” by Grandes Serres is a joyful mix of drinks based on our raves and faves of the day.
These wines are always rooted in beautiful encounters. One-of-a-kind bottles produced in
limited quantities and illustrated by our friends who, like us, enjoy lively pre-dinner drinks together and with whom we share a passion for good art accessible to all. The only rule is there are no rules!
Set off on a discovery, let yourself be swept up in this festive, wild, free-spirited universe that may just out-pope the Pope, and then some…
This collection brings together two of my favorite things: natural wines and comics. Oddly enough, it was pretty much right next door that I found my partner in crime for this project, Ben Sanair.
The head of a screen-printing workshop in Avignon called Turboformat, his Japanese-inspired universe pops with eye-catching characters as fun as they are weird. His work speaks to me, and, with his signature spontaneity and enthusiasm, he hopped on the Pope train right away.
The concept is simple: create adventures for a team of 4 superheroes, the Wine Avengers, but instead of high-gloss paper, use wine labels! Vintage after vintage, Go Green, Badass, Rock ’n’ Rhône and their leader Crazy Pope tirelessly fight their archnemesis, the Wine Wizard, doing their best to derail his Machiavellian schemes.
Gifted with superpowers and free of added sulfites, they’re always in the right place at the right time to foil the Wine Wizard’s evil plans… but he has more in store and many are the battles that lie ahead, as our friends must thwart the silent but very real threat of a zombie invasion in the Rhône Valley!
A protean artist from Lozère (I know it’s hard to believe, but people do live in Lozère!), Morgan Pansier is first and foremost a screen printer. His hobby is playing with geometric shapes, distorting them, layering them, and dousing them in crazy colors.
He makes precision prints with a healthy dose of poetry and a dash of mischief.
So he was clearly the perfect person to illustrate our whites and rosés.
Rare wines from overlooked varieties and isolated parcels, these little gems are carefully concocted in our cellars and are well worth the detour.
Don’t hold back. Take the plunge, into our wines or Morgan’s designs. Either way, it’s a win-win!
This is Grandes Serres’ ongoing collection of works in progress.
Wines that buck convention, fly-by-night creations, the result of fun encounters and foolhardy ideas, the stuff of serendipitous micro batches.
These are wines made using our own grapes, our neighbors’ grapes, or maybe our friends’ grapes. We’re sharing them with you because they’re just too good and it would be too bad not to…
As of now there’s only one wine in the collection: an amazing Ventoux.
